Prolouge

Silence was in the camp. A nearly full moon hung in the sky and the star fleece shimmered.
Silently Topazfur sitting in the middle of the camp. This was her night.
The night in which she would hold vigil alone and after which she would be finally be accepted as true warrior of her Clan. Her golden fur beamed in the moonlight.
She was filled with pride and felt herself full with energy, but still...
An unexplained feeling of fatigue and discomfort that told her to lie down and fall asleep or closing the eyes drilled deeper and deeper into her.
Topazfur started to feel unwell more and more, because the fatigue expressed stronger on her eyelids and the feeling of uncomfort got stronger and stronger with every moment.
She felt her muscles cramp. She felt like her body was becoming stone.
„Please not in that night", Topazfur thought and stood up even if she was feeling every of her muscles.
Without a word she walked through the emty camp and even if she was able to shake off her fatigue, so she felt in return more horrible in heart.
"Something is different to night. I don't know only one cat in our Clan that was feeling fear  during their vigil like me. I feel horrible...
But still- Orepelt told me that fear often is a selfprotectionreflex."
Topazfur drew up herself and continued thinking, while she crept on through the camp.
She was passing the nursery, when she suddenly heared a noise. She turned around and could just see how the red shadow of a cat was rushing among the clearing and then in an open place of the blackberry hedge disappeared, that surrounded the camp.
And Topazfur had seen more. The fleeing cat had carried a bundle in her mouth.
"A kit!" It flashed trough Topazfur and she rushed over to the hole through that the kidnapper escaped.
In front of the opening she stopped, turned around and let out a scream:
"Someone kidnapped one of the kits!" She shouted. "May the StarClan be with us!"
With that words on her lips, that lingered long into the darkness, Topazfur disappeared in the hole and followed the kidnapper.
Only the next day showed what happened after that.
It was night of the following night and the full moon was rising, but that night the Clan wouldn't go to the great gathering with the other two Clans that lived in the forest.
That night they would stay in the camp.
Silent and with with their heads down, the cats sat in a semicircle in the middle of the camp and took leave of Topas Fell, whose beautiful body with many wounds was exaggerated. And at Topazfurs side, like they would be looking at her mother's protection, the dead bodies of two kits were nestled, the young warrior couldn't save.
All cats were silent, until the silence of sorrow was broken by a call of joy.
The healer of the Clan was it, who let out that call, while she was rushing out of her den.
She called: "The third kitten is alive! Thank StarClan!"
But only one cat reacted on that call. She raised her head and than walked to the healer.
It was Jadeeye, the mother of the three kits.
